Week 24

Mar 31/11 - I was looking at some of my own past video pieces and watched something a created last year for class. I realized how forced it was to try and be a 5 minute video rather than an aestetically pleasing one. Some of the shots in it are painfully long, and I know I could make it better if I had another shot at it. When I get some free time (once school is done), I am making a note to refinish this piece... because it does mean a lot to me and I want it to be as meaningful to others watching it.

Week 23

Mar 24/11 - I have an empty space on one wall in my room. And I could really use a place to sit (rather than my bed) to watch TV or movies on the computer. At first we tried to fit a fouton in the space but there was no way it was going to fit. I decided I wanted a comfy leather bench that could also act as a storage device. Looking through photos, I decided to photoshop the ideal bench. I created two views of this dream bench in a chocolate brown!

Week 22

Mar 17/11 - I discovered my artistic mindset doesn't just reside within the computer. I found out that when given the objects and the time I will attempt to make anything look cooler than it should. Do you think they have careers for solely food decoration? I made this vegitable arrangement for my sister's baby shower.

Week 21

Mar 10/11 - I found a parody video of a Taio Cruiz song, which I think was hilariously done. I love the creative remixed lyrics they've come up with and the fact that it features the return of the new Donkey Kong game for Wii. It was a game that was a huge part of my childhood!

Week 20

Mar 3/11 - Even though it's only march, my friend and I have been thinking about the summer... and soccer! We're organizing our own team this year and we are designing jerseys complete with logo and team name. I found a great website that does custom jerseys:
http://www.totallysoccer.ca/
They even provide a page that allows you to customize the colours/pattern of the jerseys. I compiled a list of different colour and style combination of some of the jerseys available and had the team vote on their favourite.

Week 19

Feb 18/11 - I bought a housing case for my Nintendo DS, which means physically taking the system apart to replace the broken hinge and have a fresh new look. I wouldn't have had the confiednece to go inside of the expensive system without having these detailed step-by-step guides of how to do it. Also the skills learned from some of my new media courses definitely helped as well.

Week 18

Feb 10/11 - I began prototyping for the name and logo of my webdesign "company". I came up with the name Auric Eye essentially meaning "Golden eye". To have a golden eye means to have an eye for beauty, or art. I felt this was an appropriate expression without being too specific. With that I came up with a design for the logo and played around with different texts. The one the majority of people on my facebook liked got finalized...

week 17

Feb 3/11 - I watched 24/7, a HBO documentary of two NHL hockey teams. I love the fact that they take the two most loved players in the league (Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovetchkin) and take you inside of their daily lifes. HBO makes a sport that is something so ordinary that you watch, into something epicly compelling, even if you don't like hockey.

Week 16

Jan 26/11 - I saw someone eating Ms. Field's cookies today on the streetcar and at first it made me think "mmm, I really wish I had one of those right now" but then I began to think about decorative baking and how much I love to bake and design new cakes for birthdays.
One I am particularly fond of it the Spider-man cake I made for my boyfriend's birthday last year. I enjoyed making it and seeing the reaction it got. Arting with icing is fun!

week 15

Jan 19/11 - Today I wandered aimlessly on YouTube across a cover verison of a song. The person played a classic song known from the game Pokemon. It takes the mono-digital tune to a new level with the soothing power of an acoustic guitar. The song is played so beautifully, it really sounds like something more significant than a childhood gaming tune.

Week 14

Jan 13/11 - I got an e-mail that ball hockey registration was coming up. It got me thinking about how I won't be playing goalie this year due to having to play in the women's league (and it not being competitive enough for me to be goalie). I brought out the goalie pads I designed last spring and I realized they weren't completely finished. There are still area's at the top where I can continue the artwork. I made it using Prisma markers... it has inspired me to start using those again!
...if you didn't notice, it's the Journey album cover.
